Secondary School at Fraser Coast Anglican College, Hervey Bay
The secondary school is sited amongst tranquil bushland and the classrooms and grounds provide a very pleasant environment for students and staff. The school has very modern facilities and offers a broad range of subjects to cater for students with different learning needs.
The combination of the sporting program, the cultural enrichment program and the modern facilities creates a very positive and enriching environment.
The secondary school provides a Christian-based education that develops the intellectual, physical and spiritual capabilities of individual students in a caring and secure way. The school is proud of the academic success of the Year 12 students who have graduated from the school in its short history.
Whilst most students begin in the secondary school at Year 8 we do have limited places available in Years 11 and 12 for students who wish to complete their secondary education. Please contact our Director of Enrolments if you would like more information about these enrolment options. Academic Scholarships are available for entry into Year 8 and Year 11 and we also offer 'Principal's Discretion' (All Rounder) and Music Scholarships - details can be found on our Scholarships page.
The curriculum provides opportunities for the extension and enrichment of students regardless of academic ability. The Year 11 & 12 subject offerings are broad. Students can choose from the academically oriented subjects such as Maths and Science and the practical subjects such as Hospitality, Tourism, Physical Education, Industrial Technology, and Graphics.
The Middle Years 8, 9, and 10
The transition from Primary to Secondary School is an important step in
adolescence we aim to ensure that students have a very positive and
rewarding educational experience during the middle years. The foundations
for success in Senior are laid at this time and students are encouraged to
pursue their best efforts at all times.
The Senior Years 11 & 12
The focus for the senior years is on the preparation students for tertiary
studies and work. Future pathways and subject options are discussed in
detail in Year 10 to ensure that students are choosing courses of study best
suited to their needs and areas of academic success.
Pastoral Care
The pastoral care program is based on the allocation of students to one of
four houses of the school. The house system provides a focus for students
and parents for all academic, and pastoral concerns. The year level tutors,
house supervisors and the Junior and Senior Directors of Students are there
to monitor, guide, nurture and support students on a daily basis. The house
system also provides the means by which intra-school activities and sporting
competitions can take place.
I would encourage you to visit the school for a tour with the Principal, Mr Tony Wood, and see the school in operation.
